cited text and performance works from the project, December 2023…

note. relevant links to examples of work are found in these entries and in certain image captions

These works have been put in rough chronological order relating to the project’s progression, and that of my fiction-theory texts and related performances…

1. Conditions of Redirection: A Trialogue

– a collaboration between Två Cirklar and myself. This performance was given at Fylkingen on April 9th 2022. The final performance was between 45 and 50 minutes in duration.

This ‘fiction-theory’ text was performed as part of my ongoing collaboration with musicians Två Cirklar, at Fylkingen, Stockholm (April 9th 2022). Due to the Covid Pandemic, this event was rescheduled from its original performance date. As a reference, here are two short sections of this work’s development, performed and recorded with ‘Två Cirklar’ at Hospitalet’s project space in Uppsala:

1. December 2020

2. June 2021

— Here are recorded film and audio samples from our collaboration’s eventual performance, April 2022.

[I am currently working on a complete film version of this performance which will have a superior audio-visual quality.]

  — Film clip 1 from the Fylkingen performance

  — Film clip 2 from the Fylkingen performance

The quality of these recordings’ is not the greatest but hopefully this still gives a satisfactory indication of the work and this performance.

— The explanatory press texts in Swedish & English, about the collaboration and performance, used as a handout during this event can be accessed here.

note. A performance reading of this text with Två Cirklar can be heard here. This text is also part of the project’s development and is a key section in its final performance.

Primed (was the work's, and fiction-theory text’s working title), Oct. 2019 – April. 2022, at Fylkingen, a musical performance collaboration with Två Cirklar. Finally, as part of this work, I have also been producing an essay with Två Cirklar, provisionally titled Primed. This text examines the project and collaboration’s development and is presently a work in progress. However, an initial draft section of it can be found here...

2. Tinnitus Channelled/Texts project

fig viii.'Post-Tinnital' image, part of the visual research for this work

Here is a link to a recording of a short section from this ongoing work, Tinnitus Channelled, which I began collaborating on with musician, composer and artist John Bryden. As I begin to expand the collaborative potentials of the project, by bringing in other participants, this work with John will be a central artistic-critical foundation and collaboration, over the next period of this research, into 2024 — being consistently assessed throughout. Subsequently, this short recorded reading with accompanying sounds, is from a section entitled Tapering Times.

Here are a number of other readings from the Tinnitus Texts works, beginning with...

— a reading of sections created as connective passages between the main body of texts for this work. These directly respond to tinnitus as an auditory condition, within my fiction-theory writing.

— My ‘tinnital recordings’ from Tinnitus Channelled

— Two other selected recordings from this text works’ main passages can be found here also: Tinnitus Channelled 4 & Tinnitus Channelled 5

— For further reference, here are examples of one of John’s noise recordings & one of his melodies US Useless, which we are presently experimenting with and expanding on.

— And a final modular synth section brought together with a selected text reading.

— Further text samples from this tinnitus work can be made available and included as part of this submission’s documentation, if requested...

Here are the studio recordings of my readings of the Opening Section I of Tinnitus Channelled. These are being used in my ongoing collaborations, particularly with John in 2024 onwards.

-----

— I have been working on a specific proposal for this Tinnitus Texts work and project (’within a project’). As part of this, I have been looking at possible opportunities for this work. Therefore, I have included here a recent application I made in Sweden.

Växelspel Commission

A project which centres on Stig Dagerman's work, this was commissioned by musician and artist Thommy Wahlström & Kulturrådet, and involved a number of short improvised performance pieces, given by five artists in this collaboration at Wiks Folkhögskola, Uppsala, in late September 2023. These are the selected sections of my tinnitus texts that I used for my improvised readings.
